Maintenance of Flux-cored Wire

‌Maintenance of flux-cored welding wire mainly includes storage conditions, management during use, and moisture treatment. ‌

Storage conditions
‌Temperature and humidity‌: Flux-cored welding wire should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse with a temperature above 10°C and a maximum relative humidity of no more than 60%. Avoid storage in a high temperature and high humidity environment to prevent the welding wire from absorbing moisture‌.
‌Moisture-proof measures‌: The packaging of flux-cored welding wire should be kept sealed to avoid contact with corrosive substances such as water, acid, and alkali. A moisture-proof agent or a dehumidifier can be placed in the warehouse to keep the air dry‌.
‌Storage location‌: The welding wire should be stored on a shelf or pad at least 300mm from the ground and wall to prevent moisture and corrosion. Avoid stacking directly on the ground‌.

Management during use ‌Management after unpacking‌: The welding wire after unpacking should be used up within 2 days to avoid condensation on the surface or contamination by grease, rust, etc. If it is necessary to store overnight, the wire feeder should be covered with canvas or plastic sheeting to reduce moisture contact.

Wet treatment‌: If the welding wire is damp, it can be kept warm in a drying oven at 50~60℃ for more than 8 hours. Welding wire that is seriously damp needs to be dried repeatedly, but the temperature should not be too high to prevent deformation of the welding wire.

Maintenance method ‌Regular inspection‌: Regularly check whether the packaging of the welding wire is damaged to ensure that the surface of the welding wire is smooth and free of rust. If the packaging is damaged or the welding wire is damp, it should be handled in time.

Proper handling‌: Avoid littering during handling to prevent damage to the packaging. Bundle welding wire should prevent deformation of the wire rack, and tubular welding wire should avoid rolling and tilting. ‌
