1. Strictly Control the Storage Environment
The storage environment of Flux Cored Wire directly determines its service life. It should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated dedicated warehouse, avoiding open-air storage or being placed in the same room as corrosive substances. The indoor temperature should be maintained within the room temperature range, and the relative humidity should be controlled below 60%. At the same time, ensure that the welding wire is a certain distance from the ground and walls to allow for smooth air circulation and prevent moisture accumulation from corroding the welding wire.
2. Standardized Handling and Storage
Handle Flux Cored Wire with care when handling it, avoiding careless throwing that could damage the packaging. Once the packaging has gaps, moisture from the air can easily seep in, causing the welding wire to become damp and rust. Different specifications and models of Flux Cored Wire should be stored separately to avoid confusion and misuse. Do not roll drums of welding wire during handling, and never lay the container down or tilt it, to prevent the welding wire inside from tangling and affecting subsequent use.
3. Strengthen Management During Use
Use Flux Cored Wire as soon as possible after opening the packaging to reduce its contact time with air. If not used up in one go, the remaining wire should not be exposed to air directly. The wire feeder and wire spool should be carefully covered with canvas or plastic sheeting to reduce the chance of contact with moisture. If the remaining welding wire will not be used for an extended period, it should be promptly removed from the wire feeder, returned to its original packaging, sealed tightly, and then returned to a warehouse that meets storage standards.
4. Regular Inspection and Maintenance
Flux Cored Wire should be inspected regularly for rust, deformation, or other defects. Any problems found should be addressed or the wire replaced immediately. Before use, if oil or impurities are found on the surface of the welding wire, they should be gently wiped clean to prevent these substances from affecting the welding effect. At the same time, welding wire should be dispensed according to the first-in, first-out principle to reduce storage time and minimize the risk of moisture absorption and deterioration.
